We Are the Creators of Our World
“If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to one another.” – Mother Theresa
I am seeing more anger being expressed at what many perceive to be problems in our country and in their own lives. They blame the government, business leaders, their spouses, partners, friends and even family for what is essentially their own fear being reflected back to them.
For far too long, we have used actions motivated by anger, frustration and fear to effect change in the world. What we have not recognized is that these actions do not work. They are short term fixes for a long term problem.
The long term problem is that we have been separated from God.
For example, for thousands of years we have used the tool of war to try to create peace. But we have yet to achieve lasting peace. If tools of war could create peace, we would most certainly have created peace when we created tools of mass destruction.
We create what we focus on, so if we focus on why we need war, why we needs tools of war, we simply re-create the need for war over and over again.
If we want to create peace, we must focus on peace. In order to focus on peace, we must learn how to feel safe.
The feeling of safety cannot come from outside of us. It must come from inside of us. We must learn to heal what causes us to feel insecure. When enough of us heal that, we will no longer feel the need to defend ourselves.
When we see or hear things in the news that make use feel angry, it is triggering the anger and/or fear that already resides within us. When we heal that, we perceive the world differently. We start to understand that the world is the way it is because of all of the emotional turmoil we collectively carry with us.
Many of us feel that we do not need to heal because we are not sick enough to be in a hospital, or not dysfunctional enough to be on drugs or suffering from an addiction. And yet almost everyone is suffering in one way or another. We are afraid to ask for help, worried that we will be rejected or that we cannot be healed.
Yet we look out into our world and see acts of greed, which is a repressed fear of not having enough. We witness acts of control and manipulation, which is commonly a repressed fear of not believing we deserve to have what we want. We see acts of violence which is an outward projection of all of the repressed fear/anger/rage one feels inside.
All of us have this dis-ease to some degree. If we are to heal our country, our world and ourselves, we must heal these fears, pains and shames within ourselves.
It is easier than we think. The change starts with us as individuals.
When we heal our past, we are able to BE in the moment. We are able to BE happy, FEEL safe and BE at peace.
For we are the creators of our world.
Expand Your Light!
Close your eyes and imagine your body as a dark vessel. Find the light within you and notice how large it is.
What color(s) is it?
Breathe into your light and notice it growing larger. How large can you make it?
What do you feel as it grows within you?
Now use your awareness to find the outer reaches of your aura.
How far out from your body do you feel your aura? An inch? Six inches? Two feet? How far can you feel it.
Realize that your aura is much like the glow from a candle in a dark room.
Take a deep breath and relax. Focus your attention on your breath…how it feels when you inhale and when you exhale.
Notice what tensions and tightness you feel as you breathe. Keep your attention focused on the peacefulness and calm as you follow the journey of your breath in…and out.
As you begin to notice tensions rising to the surface, listen to what your ego mind is saying about them. Just observe what the mind says. Keep your identification though on the flame…on your breath. Realize that the emotions coming up right now, the fear, anger, frustrations and hurt…are not you. Keep breathing and just let them go.
Use your breath and your awareness to increase and decrease the size of the flame within you. Play with different colors and notice if you feel more comfortable with certain colors than others. Notice which colors make you feel more powerful.
Notice what you feel and where you feel it.
When you feel complete, open your eyes and journal about what you experienced.
